Cinderella Director's Page

Impossible things are happening everyday! Welcome to the magical opening of the 2007 Putnam County Playhouse season.  It is with this magical show that Lita and myself find us reunited off the stage as co-directors.

Lita began her love affair with PCP in the 1971 production of Hello Dolly portraying Ernestina Money. Her latest appearance onstage was as the Cat in the Hat in last years Seussical.  She has been an actress, choreographer, assistant director or director in such PCP shows as: Gypsy, Annie, 42nd Street, Steel Magnolias, West Side Story, The Odd Couple (Female Version) and many more. Lita has also directed at the Community Theatre of Clay County. She owns and operates the Dance Workshop in Greencastle, IN.

I have come full circle being the director of 2007’s Cinderella. My Putnam County Playhouse debut was with the 1979 production staged at Greencastle High School’s McAnally Center as a member of the chorus. Last year found me onstage with Lita portraying Horton the Elephant in Seussical. I have been involved onstage or offstage with other such productions at PCP including: Play It Again Sam, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, 42nd Street, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Wizard of Oz and numerous others throughout the years. I have also appeared and directed at the Community Theatre of Clay County and ventured to the Civic Theatre of Indianapolis to sing and dance in 27 performances of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Enough about us let’s talk about our show. The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with Cinderella.  Our production will follow the classic version with a strong influence on cartoonish characters to add to the presence of the fairy tale. Cinderella was originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, A remake in 1997 starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother added an upbeat twist to the classic story. Note to stepsisters – watch this version!!! Many magical surprises are in store for our version of the classic love story and the transformation scene will be one of the most magical seen inside the barn. Whether you are a seasoned veteran of the stage or a new face to our family, we can’t wait for you to audition and become a part of the magic. This show melts everyone’s heart when the glass slipper fits! See you at auditions! Brad J
