Father of the Bride Cast and Crew

The story:

In Father of the Bride, Mr. Banks runs a tight household until his daughter Kay surprises everyone with the announcement that she is engaged. The couple doesn’t want a “big” wedding—just a simple affair with a few friends. Before long, though, Mr. Banks’ life becomes a sprawling circus of caterers, florists, and furniture movers, in this comedy that inspired both the 1950 Spencer Tracy movie and the 1991 Steve Martin reboot.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

Mister Banks: mid-forties. Banker, stuffy and sometimes overbearing but always means well and always with lots of love.

Mrs. Banks: late thirties to mid-forties. A lovely woman who is efficient in every way. Loves her husband and children very much but occasionally finds herself having to manage minor conflicts.

Kay Banks: eldest child and only daughter in early twenties. Kay’s sudden announcement of the impending marriage to Buckley takes everyone by surprise – including Buckley.

Ben Banks: second eldest child in late teens. Easy going but not too sure the marriage will ever take place. Loves his sister and loves to torture his little brother Tommy.

Tommy Banks: 10 / 12 years old. Nice boy feeling a little left out with all the fussing over his sister’s marriage and who can or cannot attend the wedding.

Buckley Andrew Dunstan: Mid-twenties. Has been dating Kay but they have never even mentioned ‘marriage’. Does not know how to handle this. Some of his questions make Kay very upset and he does not have a clue what that’s all about.

Buzz Taylor: Tommy’s best friend.

Peggy Swift: 17/18 years old. Ben Banks’ girlfriend.

Delilah: Family housekeeper/cook.

Miss Bellamy: Mr. Banks’ secretary (and the keeper of the list of guests including possible guests and definitely not guests – of the wedding).

Mr. Massoula: 40’s / 50’s. Owns the catering company hired by Mr. Banks. Speaks with a heavy accent combined with big arm gestures and big smiles. He makes many promises but can he keep them?

Joe (Mr Massoula’s assistant) flamboyant and funny.

Red, Pete, Tim’s man: Some have lines and all participate in the final scene of show.
