Children’s Theatre Workshop 2013 – “Stories OnStage”

The Children’s Theatre Workshop is now underway!  The workshop for children grades 2nd-5th is being held this week daily 10:00-11:30am with a culminating “work in progress” performance on Friday evening, July 26th  at 7:00 pm in the Hazel Day Longden Theatre.  Admission to the performance is free.
This year’s program includes two original comedic renderings of classic tales by Susanna Howard.  The first entitled “The Unknown Number of Dancing Princesses” will be directed by Caroline Good and Susanna Howard, and assisted by Chloe Maginity and Lucas Eckrich.  “The Gingerbread Kid” will be directed by TJ Tincher and Ashlee Vitz and assisted by Hannah Gellman.  The children will also perform creative stagings of poems by Shel Silverstein, applying techniques they have learned during the week.
Appearing in “The Unknown Number of Dancing Princesses” are Harris Weltz, Bijou Champagne, Olivia Headley, Fiona Good, Lillian Lane, Alice Howard, Iris MacKenzie, Eleanor MacKenzie, Javen Brown, Marleah Muncie, Chloe Gardner.  Also in the cast are Brenigan Warren, Luca Comichisto, Cam Bendix, Ian Barger, Hunter Miller, and Brandon Lane.
“The Gingerbread Kid” features Anna Norris, Will Roberts, Mia Warmoth, Evvie Timberman, Zethor Peterson, Logan Warren, Ella Hirt, Zoe Weltz, Sam White, Hope Roberts, Katie White, Gabby Roberts, and Charlie Good.
The mission of the Children’s Theatre Workshop is bringing to young people the love of theatre, providing them a venue to explore their creativity, and allowing them to collaborate and express themselves on stage.
 In addition to learning basic theatre skills and vocabulary, the kids will be given instruction in basic acting technique, movement and voice for the stage, character development, and how to work with an ensemble.   The kids will then apply these skills through theatre games and as they rehearse a short play.

GET SHAKESPEARED! ON JUNE 29TH!!!

The Bard will take the stage again at Putnam County Playhouse as the SHAKESPEARED! Workshop presents two versions of Shakespeare’s tale of mistaken identity The Comedy of Errors. The final results will be on view on Saturday, June 29, at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available only at the door. All tickets are general seating and will be $3. Chldren under twelve will be admitted free.

Program director and creator Caroline Good is at the helm of the older group of performers. They include Ethan Gill, Logan Beck, Lucas Eckrich, and Dylan Bodnarick as the two sets of twins. Libby Brush, Joe Lippard, Chloe Maginity, Samantha Flanelly, Madi Egold, Dominique Lafontant, Alex Briones, and Blayne Lackey are also in the cast.

Others in the show include George Howard, David Maginity, Maxx Kirk, Colin Dombrowski, Jerica Bean, Abbie Harms, and Clara Lippard. Also appearing are Chloe Bodnarick, Corrine Trigg, Gwen Mazur, Madison King, Caleb Guthrie, Lily Spencer, JenJe Stouder, Michaela Semak, Hilary Johnson, Sammy Batchelor, and Michala Cowley.

Working on the technical side for the older group are TJ Tincher, assistant director; Lauren Good, lighting design and operator; Emma Bodnarick and Emma Newton on sound. Good is also assisting Lily Bonwich as costume coordinator.
Bethany Bax is directing the middle school group. Appearing as the two sets of twins are Donovan Asbell and Addison Hughes, and their counterpoints Karl Egold and Ben Parsons. Other major roles are being taken by Michael Thede, Jevor Stouder, Corinne Buchanan, and Susanna Howard.
Joining them will be Rose White, Sal Martoglio, Luke Norris, Savannah Sanders, and Zach Cowley. The cast also includes Paxton Wells, Shianna Alexander, Hannah Williams, Grant Pettit, and Oliver Mackenzie. Rounding our the cast are Charlie Good, Gabby Roberts, Allison Staples, and Hope Roberts.

The backstage crew for this production are Cecily Girton and Ragan Bax. Tincher, Eleanor Howard, and Ashlee Vitz are assistant directors.

Tickets for the Victorian Thriller Angel Street will go on sale Monday, July 8, at 5 p.m.

OPEN HOUSE KICKS OFF 2013 SEASON!!

Board members, guests, and the cast of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown spent two hours on Sunday afternoon, June 2, at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre opening the new season of Putnam County Playhouse.

House Committee Chairperson Kathryn Dory and First Vice President Jack Randall Earles worked in the Box Office, helping patrons with single session and season tickets. Board member Jim Green joined them, and a total of 15 season tickets were sold and more than 150 single tickets for You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown were sold as well.  Tickets are still available for every performance, but reservations are recommended!

PCPH President Michael McClaine worked the punch bowl and greeted guests as they arrived. He later presided over the monthly board meeting.

Board members Caroline Good and Shelly McFadden discussed their plans for the season.  Shelly will direct The Drowsy Chaperone. Caroline plays a leading role in Angel Street and directs SHAKESPEARED, the Youth Theatre Workshop later in June and the Children’s Workshop in July.
