A reminder for our patrons: SR240 is closed just west of
 Highway 75.  

You can continue west on U.S. 40 to SR 231. This is the next light after your usual turn off just west of Stilesville.

Come into Greencastle on SR 231. Turn right at the first light, the  Veteran’s Highway. Continue through the 4-way stop at the High School-Middle School.

Turn left at the next turn bubble – this is 10th Street.  Go straight at the light, and you will be on your usual road….look for us on the right!

The unlikely suspects above are featured in the July production as the Putnam County Playhouse Season of Hits continues. One of these characters is a serial killer, another will become a victim.

The play is directed by TJ Tincher, an actor who has been in many plays at PCPH including last season’s The Foreigner. This is his directorial debut here.

Also working on the technical side are Bryan Schroeder as Techical Director and Sound Designer, Noah D. Pettit as Production Stage Manager, DarvËll Barger as sound operator, and Ohenaba Quarshie as light operator.

The show features Anna Harris and David Lorimer as a young couple (Mollie and Giles Ralston) who open a small hotel about 30 miles outside London.  


Their guests include an eccentric young man, Dustin Boothby (Christopher Wren), a demanding older woman, Kathy Helms Arnold (Mrs. Boyle), a retired Army major Jack Randall Earles (Major Metcalf), and a mysterious young woman Cheyenne “Sky” Welch (Miss Casewell).

Last to arrive are Jay Prewitt (Mr. Paravacini) an unexpected guest and Cameron Wunderlich (Sgt. Trotter) a policeman investigating a London murder.

Nothing is quite what it seems, and when one of the guests is murdered, Sgt. Trotter has his hands full investigating the twists and turns of the evening.  See if you can figure it out before he does!

Tickets for all remaining shows including the current production The Mousetrap, Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, and Barefoot in The Park on are sale the next two weeks. You can buy or reserve tickets for any of these shows by calling the box office at 765-653-5880 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Volunteers are in the box office ONLY during the posted times.

Seating is limited for some nights of Disney’s Beauty & the Beast. Best seats for that musical are available for opening night, August 9; the 3 p.m. Sunday matinee on August 12; Wednesday, August 15; and closing night, August 18.

SHAKESPEARED! COMING YOUR WAY!!

The annual Youth Theatre Workshop will have its presentation on Saturday, June 30, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available only at the door. Admission is $3 for everyone over the age of 12. This year, two productions of the Bard’s Romeo & Juliet are on the bill.

The Middle School Group is up first with a short traditional version of the story. It is being directed by Eleanor Howard with assistance from Bethany Bax.

The Montagues & Capulets in the streets of old Verona.
Featured in this portion are Isabella Brown and Leo Brown as the title pair. Other featured roles are taken by Grace Long, Aleyce Green, Marie Malinoski, Rose Malinoski, Henry Cox, Bella Green, Alice Howard, Kyle Brentlinger, Paxton O’Brien, Evie Green, and Evan Lazar.

Narrators for the production are Evangeline Brown and Samantha Funk. Others onstage include Rebecca Hebb, Mya Weddle, Chloe Gardner, Logan Warren, Jocelyn Gardner,  and Aiden Spradlin.



Romeo & Juliet (Craig Robinson & Haley Wilson)

The High School Group will present Romeo & Juliet: The Fateful Voyage, a version of the tale that takes place on the liner Titanic.  It is being directed by Caroline Good & Hannah Gellman. Playing the star-crossed teens in this version are Craig Robinson and Haley Wilson.

Among those in supporting roles are Susanna Howard, Devin Huff, Ava Maginity, Isabelle Cafoouras, Michael Thede, Ellie Henry, Ruthie Mann, Grant Pettit, and Samuel Gray.Other along for the ride include Anna Norris, Noah D. Pettit (who is also the assistant director), Katie Newton, Fiona Good, Dale Dye Thomas, Ella Dye Thomas, Courtney Huff, Victoria Huff, and Hope Roberts.

YTW Director Caroline Good adapted both productions.  Working on the technical side are Alexander Gandy, Dustin Bond, and Tim Good.

SETTING ‘THE MOUSETRAP’

Our Season of Hits continues in July with a production of the mystery-thriller The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. It will be produced July 12-14 and July 18-21. Tickets go on sale July 9. The box office will open at 5 p.m. that day.

The Mousetrap began its journey as a short radio play. Writer Christie then adapted it for the stage. It opened in London at the Ambassadors Theatre on November 25, 1952, after a short pre-West End tour of English cities. It transferred to the St. Martins Theatre in 1974 where it has been running since. This is its first production by PCPH.

The play is being directed by T.J. Tincher, who is making his PCPH directorial debut with this production.  The show has been in rehearsal since May 9th and recently moved onto the stage in the Hazel Day Longden Theatre.

The cast includes Cameron Wunderlich as the mysterious Sgt. Trotter, who shows up at Monkswell Manor looking for an elusive killer. The guest house/inn is run by a young married couple, Mollie and Giles Ralston, who are played by Anna Harris and David Lorimer.

Other guests who quickly become suspects for Trotter include Dustin Boothby as Christopher Wren, an eccentric young man who may or may not be an escaped patient from a local asylum, and Cheyenne “Sky” Welch as Miss Casewell who figures prominently in the case.

Also on hand are Kathy Helms Arnold as Mrs. Boyle, a fussy woman with a secret; Jay Prewitt as Mr. Paravacini, the unexpected guest; and Jack Randall Earles as Major Metcalf, a retired military man with a job to do.

Secrets are revealed and everyone is a suspect in the recent murder of a woman in London as Sgt. Trotter closes in on the real killer. The demise of one of the characters makes the situation even more tense as the audience realizes everyone is in danger and ANYONE could be the elusive “Three Blind Mice” killer.

Workshop Information – 
Registration for both groups is now closed.

Middle School Group 

Our annual two-week-long “Shakespeared!” Workshop this year centers around Romeo & Juliet, with the middle school group performing a more traditional version with fun Renaissance costumes. Eleanor Howard will be directing, assisted by Beth Bax and Alex Gandy, our DePauw University intern.

The middle school group meets in the afternoons Monday-Friday 12:30-2:30pm June 18-29, with a combined performance Saturday, June 30th at 7:00pm, when each group presents their version of Romeo & Juliet.

We will read through the play as a group on day one, and the players will have a chance to note their role preferences. The roles will be cast that evening, and rehearsals begin on day two!

THERE ARE PARTS FOR EVERYONE! “Shakespeared!” is tailored to provide young players with an opportunity to engage with Shakespeare’s text in a fun way and to see the potential interpretations that lie within the text.

This year’s high school group will be tackling a comedic version set on the Titanic that incorporates a lively soundtrack, a chase, fun Edwardian costumes, and pop-culture references. Caroline Good will direct, with “Shakespeared!” alumni, Hannah Gellman and Noah D. Pettit assisting, along with Oheneba Akua Quarshi, our DePauw University intern.

Director Lee Reberger will have two sessions of auditions for the musical Disney’s Beauty & the Beast at the Putnam County Playhouse.  The first session will be Sunday, June 10 at 7 p.m. with a follow up session on Monday, June 11. Both will be held at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre in Greencastle.

All roles are open and include Belle, the heroine of the fairy tale; The Beast, a prince who is living under a curse; Gaston, the town bully and his sidekick, LeFou; Maurice, Belle’s father; and the folks who live under spells in the castle including Mrs. Potts, her son Chip, Lumiere, and Cogsworth; and the townspeople.   Those auditioning for all roles except Chip (stage age 9-12) should be at least 16 years of age.

OPEN HOUSE BEGINS PCPH 57TH SEASON!!

The lights on are on! The stage is ready! The time is now!

The 57th season of Putnam County Playhouse will begin with its annual Open House on Sunday, June 3. The Open House will begin at 2 p.m. and run until 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Board members will be on hand to answer questions. Season tickets AND individual tickets for ALL shows will be on sale at that time. Season tickets are $35 and single session tickets are $10 each.

A rehearsal preview of songs from the season opener,  the musical Annie, will also be presented through out the afternoon.

Joining Annie in our season are Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap in July, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in August, and Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park in September. Plan on being there for our Season of Hits!
