Putnam County Playhouse will present the beloved musical My Fair Lady, opening
Thursday, August 13
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, My Fair Lady follows Eliza Doolittle, a
Cockney flower girl whose life changes when Professor Henry Higgins takes on the
challenge of transforming her speech and manners. With memorable music, lively
choreography, and a story filled with humor and heart, the production explores identity,
class, independence, and the question of who has the right to define a person’s future.
Tickets are $15 each. The box office will open Monday, August 10, from 5–7 p.m. and
will also be open each night during the performance weeks.
Playhouse newcomer, Janani Sridhar stars as Eliza Doolittle, with David Johnson as
Professor Henry Higgins and T.J. Tincher as Colonel Pickering. Andrea Young portrays
Mrs. Eyensford-Hill, while Alan Skillern plays Freddy Eyensford-Hill and John Mark Day
appears as Alfred P. Doolittle. Lee Ann Arnold takes on the role of Mrs. Higgins, and
Courtney Slough portrays Mrs. Pearce. Karen Temple plays Mrs. Hopkins.
The supporting cast includes John Reach, Dorian Dowd, Jim Elliott, and Kerry Arnold.
Miles Jernagan, Emily Gray, Adalyn Ludlow, Gwen Skillern, and Hallie Rice portray
various staff and Ensemble members. Noah D. Pettit plays Lord Boxington, with Rose
Cash as Lady Boxington. Raylee O’Connor & Logan Kuhne are Featured Dancers in a
ballet portion of the show. Jace Flater, Jennifer Wunderlich, Trenton Bright, Kaylie
Rohrbaugh, Mikey Henry, Max Bailey, Suzanne Funk, Samantha Funk, Julian Dowd,
Willow Scott, and Suzanne Hassler round out the cast as Ensemble members.
Bringing the production to the stage is director Kathi Elliott, assisted by Fawn Helmer.
Kathryn Dory serves as vocal music director, with Debi Prather as rehearsal pianist, with
Eleanor Howard serving as dialect coach.
Ben South manages sound, Shelby Merrill operates the light board, and Bart Jones and
Matt Ludlow handle the spotlights. Choreography is created by Josie Cox, Raylee
O’Connor, Catherine Ryan-Shager, and Sarah Vawter.
The production’s costumes are provided by Shelly Green McFadden and Diana Van
Middlesworth, with Pat Armitage designing and constructing 2 new costumes for Eliza.
The hair and makeup crew includes Syrci Abbott, Emily Gray, Raylee O’Connor,
Brooklynne Smith, and Sarah Vawter.
The set is designed by Matt Helmer, Fawn Helmer, and Linda Gjesvold. Jack Randall
Earles provides the pre-show and intermission music. Matt also serves as stage
manager, supported by stage crew members Hollis Barcus, Randy Funk, Fawn Helmer,
Parker Helmer, and Ashton Kirton. John Reach is the props master.
The production orchestra features Debi Prather on piano, Kathryn Dory on keyboards
and as conductor, Michelle Newland on horn, and DeDee Schwomeyer on percussion.
Audiences are invited to experience the magic, music, and transformation of My Fair
Lady beginning August 13. With performances limited to eight evenings, early ticket
reservations are encouraged.
